HELENA, Mont. — Montana Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen said nearly 50 new candidate filings were processed in the Secretary of State’s Office this week – the last full week of the 2024 candidate filing period.
Candidate filing will close at 5 p.m. on Monday, March 11.
“What a great week of candidate filing in the Secretary of State’s Office,” said Secretary Jacobsen. “We’re honored to continue assisting candidates as they step forward to serve their communities and constituents. Best of luck to all candidates.”
Once again, the majority of filings processed were for seats in the Montana Legislature. More than 30 of this week’s candidates filed for the Montana House and Montana Senate, bringing the total number of legislative filings processed to 284. More than 90 of those legislative seats on the ballot have multiple candidates, with some drawing as many as four current candidates.
Other filings this week included candidates for U.S. Senate, both U.S. Representative seats, Governor, Superintendent of Schools, and State Auditor. New candidates also surfaced in races for the Public Service Commission and Supreme Court Chief Justice.
The latest results for candidates filing with the Secretary of State’s Office can be found on the 2024 Candidate Filings website. Local candidates file with the county election office.
