HELENA, Mont. — Montana Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen thanked the thousands of businesses across Montana for a successful 2024 Annual Report season.
All limited liability companies (LLCs) and corporations (profit and nonprofit) are required by law to file an annual report to keep registration information up to date, while the business remains in active-good standing.
Roughly 220,000 Montana LLCs and corporations filed their annual report in 2024.
Since taking office, Secretary Jacobsen has cut registration fees in half for Montana businesses, waived several other fees entirely, and provided the one-time fee waiver for all Montana businesses filing a 2024 annual report by the April 15th deadline.
“Our office is a proud partner of the Montana business community,” said Secretary Jacobsen. “We’re honored to be the first step in their business journey when they register. We’re proud to make it easier to do business in Montana by increasing efficiencies, decreasing deterrents, and providing excellent customer service.
“Thank you for doing business in Montana!”
During the annual report filing season, many Montana businesses thanked Secretary Jacobsen for waiving the 2024 annual report filing fee, while several others praised the Secretary of State’s Business Services Division for providing excellent customer service throughout the process.
“I would just like to take a moment to say ‘thank you’ to Secretary of State Jacobsen (for) waiving the Annual Report fee,” wrote one customer.
“I just want to say ‘thank you’ for removing the filing fee for 2024. I think this action sends a positive message for those who have a business in MT. Thanks so much!” wrote another customer. “Also, thank you for making the filing report ‘user friendly’ – everything correctly filled in for me. I am 71 and not very tech-savvy, but this was easy peasy for me! Thanks again. Keep up the good work.”
“I would like to thank Christi and all of her staff for making my registration easy and efficient,” added another customer. “I really liked the ease of completing the process and the immediate certification form I received. Thank you.”
