HELENA, Mont. — Montana Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen joined state and local election officials in celebrating an exceptional Primary Election Day. Secretary Jacobsen thanked the thousands of voters who cast ballots statewide while applauding election officials for their dedication in administering Tuesday’s election.
“Tuesday’s election marked the successful culmination of the hard work put in by the Montana Elections Team,” said Secretary Jacobsen. “For months, state and local election officials have been preparing to assist voters across the state, and it was an honor to serve them on this historic Election Day.
“Thank you to the hundreds of thousands of voters who ensured their voices were heard at the ballot box. We look forward to serving you again in November’s General Election.”
Polls opened across the state at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, and following the close of polls at 8 p.m., county election offices began reporting results to the Secretary of State’s Election Night Reporting website – electionresults.mt.gov. Following the implementation of House Bill 196 (2023 Legislature), county election offices are required to publish results to the Secretary of State’s official reporting website before releasing the results elsewhere.
On Tuesday evening, Wibaux County was the first to report 100 percent of its results.
“Voters, candidates, and the media appreciate the efforts of election officials in providing results in a timely and accurate manner,” said Secretary Jacobsen.
Election results are available on the Secretary of State’s Election Night Reporting website at https://electionresults.mt.gov/. As a reminder, results are unofficial until canvassed.
In the coming days and weeks, state and local election officials will conduct Montana’s post-election procedures, including the post-election audit and the county and state canvasses. The deadline for Montana’s General Election ballot to be certified is August 22nd.
