HELENA, Mont. — Montana Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen announced another record number of new businesses were registered in Montana in 2022. Secretary Jacobsen made the announcement during the Montana Chamber of Commerce Business Days at the Capitol event on Monday.
Roughly 53,000 new businesses were registered in Montana in 2022.
“The continued growth of new businesses points to Montana’s healthy economy and pro-business landscape,” said Secretary Jacobsen. “It’s exciting to see our family, friends, and neighbors create their new businesses and introduce them to Montana.”
In 2022, Secretary Jacobsen announced registration fees for Montana businesses were cut in half, while several other fees were eliminated entirely. The Secretary of State’s online business filing system has also reduced the review and processing time by the Secretary of State Office’s staff.
“Due to increased efficiencies in our office, we are able to lower fees for our Montana businesses. Those businesses are the backbone of our great state and cutting fees in half is one step to help them achieve their goals,” Secretary Jacobsen said of the fee reductions.
“Our goal is to make it easier to do business in Montana,” Secretary Jacobsen continued, “and I’m proud to see Montanans take advantage and follow their dreams. We continue to support and appreciate our Montana businesses.
“Thank you for doing business in Montana.”
