HELENA, Mont. — On Wednesday afternoon, Montana Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen attended a ceremony for the official re-opening of the Montana Asia Trade Office in Taipei, Taiwan.
Governor Greg Gianforte and Director General Daniel Chen of the Seattle Taiwan Economic and Cultural Office presided over the ceremony.
The Montana Asia Trade Office was first opened in 1988 and abruptly closed in 2012. Gov. Gianforte and Director General Chen spoke of the incredible financial partnership between the two states, including Taiwan’s purchase of more than $175 million of Montana goods in 2019 and 2010, according to a press release from the governor’s office.
“It was an exciting moment seeing the re-establishment of the Montana Asia Trade Office,” said Secretary Jacobsen. “Montanans work hard to raise and create high-quality goods and services, and this will only increase opportunities for Montana and Taiwan.”
