HELENA — Montana Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen shared the number of new business registrations filed with the state in December 2023. According to the Montana Business Economic Report, approximately 4,600 new businesses were registered in Montana during the month of December.
For comparison, some 3,950 businesses registered in December of the previous year.
“Our office is honored to serve Montana businesses when they begin their journey by registering with our office,” said Secretary Jacobsen. “We’re also proud to partner with the business community to make it easier to do business in Montana. We’ve cut registration fees in half, eliminated other fees entirely, and we’re waiving the 2024 Annual Report fee for all businesses that file by the April 15th deadline.”
“Thank you for doing business in Montana,” she added.
Since Secretary Jacobsen took office, Montana has had record new business registrations each year. In 2021, roughly 50,000 new businesses registered, while more than 53,000 registered with the Secretary of State’s Office in 2022.
Last year, Secretary Jacobsen was honored by the Mountain States Policy Center (MSPC) for making it easier to do business in Montana. Secretary Jacobsen received the organization’s “Elevation Award” which is the highest honor of the MSPC.
