HELENA, Mont. — Montana Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen is reminding Montana businesses that there is one month remaining to file the 2025 annual report. Limited Liability Companies (LLCs) and Corporations (profit and nonprofit) have until April 15, 2025, to file.
For the second consecutive year, Secretary Jacobsen has waived the fee for annual report filings. The fee will be automatically waived for all businesses that file their 2025 annual report by the April 15 deadline.
“Montana’s local businesses positively impact their communities and our state,” said Secretary Jacobsen. “I am proud to once again waive the annual report filing fee, along with several other fee reductions and eliminations. These waivers and reductions allow these businesses to focus on their daily operations while continuing to provide valuable services to our communities.”
Businesses can easily file the annual report on the Secretary of State’s online filing portal at https://biz.sosmt.gov/. Business owners can also find step-by-step instructions on Secretary Jacobsen’s online help center.
More than 60 percent of Montana LLCs and Corporations have already filed their 2025 annual report.
Since assuming office in January 2021, Secretary Jacobsen has cut registration fees for new Montana businesses in half and eliminated many other fees altogether. Under Secretary Jacobsen’s leadership, the state has boasted record new business registrations for four consecutive years. More than 63,000 businesses registered in Montana in 2024.
“Montana is off to another record-breaking pace for new business registrations in 2025 after more than 6,000 businesses registered in January,” said Secretary Jacobsen. “Thank you for doing business in Montana!”
