HELENA, Mont. —Montana Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen voted to approve items generating an estimated revenue of more than $2.2 million during the April 2024 Board of Land Commissioners (Land Board) meeting.
Each month, the Board of Land Commissioners – Secretary of State, Governor, Attorney General, State Auditor, and Superintendent of Public Schools – meets to discuss and vote on decisions surrounding Montana’s state trust lands operated by the Department of Natural Resources & Conservation (DNRC).
During April’s meeting, Secretary Jacobsen and her fellow commissioners approved a number of agenda items, including three timber sales that would generate estimated revenue of more than $1.8 million. That revenue would benefit Montana’s trust beneficiaries, including K-12 schools and universities across the state.
The School for the Deaf & Blind trust would receive nearly $850,000 from April’s approved agenda items, while the Montana Tech trust would benefit from north of $250,000. The complete list of Montana trust beneficiaries is available on the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC) website.
“I’m a proud supporter of utilizing Montana’s state trust lands to benefit our state schools and universities,” said Secretary Jacobsen. “I continue to support the responsible development of our natural resources. This month’s timber sales exemplify how such development can directly benefit our schools and universities, generating revenue to support our students and lead to their success.”
