HELENA, Mont. — Montana Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen officially kicked off the 2024 Montana Notary Conference on Thursday morning at the state’s first e-APP Symposium. Guests and presenters flocked from across the United States and even internationally to attend this year’s two-day conference.
“This weekend, we’ll hear from national and global experts and are honored to welcome them to the Treasure State and our Capital City,” said Secretary Jacobsen. “I’m especially proud to say that Montana has been one of the leaders in developing and implementing processes and procedures for adopting electronic Apostilles. Thanks to a partnership with the Hague Conference, we have successfully issued over 500 e-Apostilles to more than 44 different countries in the past year.
“I’m proud of the excellent work performed by our team, and it’s exciting for our office to share that expertise with colleagues from around the nation and world.”
Secretary Jacobsen had the distinct honor of welcoming and introducing Dr. Christophe Bernasconi, the Secretary General of the Hague Conference and keynote speaker for Thursday’s e-APP Symposium. Dr. Bernasconi praised the Montana Secretary of State’s Office for being a leader in the industry.
“I would like to thank Secretary of State Jacobsen for the welcome and introduction. She has welcomed us to this beautiful state of Montana, and I want to say what a pleasure it is to be here,” said Dr. Bernasconi. “I would also like to thank (Secretary of State’s Office Notary & Certifications Administrator) Lori Hamm very, very much for all you have been doing and continue to do. You are what I like to call one of the dynamos who keep things going. You decided one day that you are going to take this electronic business to your state and make it happen. So thank you to the Secretary of State’s Office.”
Hundreds of notaries from around the state have also gathered in Helena for the notary public portion of the weekend’s conference. Presenters from around the U.S. will highlight notary best practices, updates and advancements in the notary profession, and the significance of networking with experienced colleagues across the country.
The 2024 Montana Notary Conference concludes on Friday afternoon.
