HELENA, Mont. — On Wednesday, Montana Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen emphasized the achievements from her first four years in office, along with her goals and priorities for her second term. Secretary Jacobsen was invited to present to the Montana Bankers Association and Montana Independent Bankers Association in the morning on Wednesday and was a presenter during the Montana Chamber of Commerce’s Business Days at the Capitol in the afternoon.
“It has been a priority for us to make it easier to do business in the state of Montana,” Secretary Jacobsen said. “We want to get government out of the way, get red tape out of the way, and be of service to the business community.”
Secretary Jacobsen discussed the numerous efficiencies implemented in the Secretary of State’s Office during her first term, including cutting registration fees in half for new Montana businesses and waiving annual report filing fees for all Montana businesses. As a result, the state has had record new business registrations in each of the Secretary’s first four years in office.
“We’re proud to be business-friendly in Montana,” said Secretary Jacobsen. “I’m proud that our office provides better service than ever before with less government.”
Secretary Jacobsen and the Governor’s Office have utilized Montana’s red tape initiative to benefit Montana businesses that “deserve less government deterrents in their day-to-day lives.”
The Secretary provided a summary of Montana’s successful and historic election cycle in 2024, which resulted from a strong collaboration between state and local election officials, known as the Montana Elections Team. Secretary Jacobsen also highlighted her work on the Montana Land Board, including her role as the deciding vote on significant public access acquisitions, as well as the historic $92 million raised for public schools in 2024.
“I’m very honored to be part of these significant contributions to our great state and our Montana schools,” Secretary Jacobsen said.
Secretary Jacobsen also visited with and took questions from attendees at both events on Wednesday.
“Thank you to Loren Brown and the banking associations, as well as Todd O’Hair and the Montana Chamber of Commerce for the opportunity to visit with your members and guests,” said Secretary Jacobsen. “We’re honored to partner with you to keep our great state open for business.”
