HELENA, Mont. — Montana Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen met with members, leaders, and staff of the Montana Farm Bureau Federation on Tuesday morning at the State Capitol. Around 50 members gathered in the Montana House of Representatives chamber to meet with Secretary Jacobsen, who was introduced by Scott Kulbeck, the organization’s executive vice president.
Secretary Jacobsen highlighted the successes from her first term in office, including record business creation, safeguarding Montana elections, and increasing public access as a deciding vote on the Land Board.
“The work that we do on the Land Board is very important to all of us as Montanans, and I take that very seriously,” said Secretary Jacobsen, who explained the Land Board’s role in generating revenue for Montana schools. “We approved oil and gas lease sales generating millions of dollars, authorized multiple timber sales, and approved ag and grazing leases to ensure our great farmers and ranchers, like all of you, remain on the land.”
“Thank you for all that you do in providing for our state and our country and for your commitment to Montana and our state’s number one industry—agriculture,” she continued.
The Farm Bureau members applauded Secretary Jacobsen’s work in “bringing security and integrity to our Montana elections,” while others discussed their experience serving as an election judge. Several others asked questions and shared concerns about the ballot initiative procedure in the state.
“It was great to hear directly from the members of the Montana Farm Bureau Federation about their thoughts, suggestions, and experiences. As business owners and voters, they were able to share valuable perspectives,” said Secretary Jacobsen. “It was great to hear of their positive experiences working with our office to register their businesses and casting their votes on election day.
“Thank you to Scott Kulbeck, Sage Zook, and the Montana Farm Bureau Federation team for the honor of visiting with members and leadership during their ‘Calling on the Capitol’ event this week.”
