HELENA, Mont. — More than 50 seventh-grade students from Corvallis met with staff in the Secretary of State’s Office as part of a field trip that included numerous stops around Helena and other portions of the state.
The seventh graders were split into four different groups as they took an official tour of the State Capitol. Each group took turns visiting the Secretary of State’s Office, learning more about the roles and responsibilities relating to elections, business registrations, notary services, and records management.
Secretary of State’s Office staff provided each student with a copy of the United States and Montana Constitution, with students reading and discussing each preamble. Students also highlighted the uniqueness of the Montana state seal.
“Thank you to the staff and chaperones from Corvallis for providing this excellent opportunity to your seventh-grade students,” said Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen. “It’s great for students to see our wonderful State Capitol and learn more about its history and how our government operates inside its walls. Thank you for visiting our office and learning more about the Secretary of State’s important roles within our government.”
