HELENA, Mont. — The 2022 election season officially opened on Thursday, January 13, with 81 candidates filing for office. Twelve candidates filed in person at the Secretary of State’s Office in the capitol.
As of 8 a.m. on Tuesday, January 18, a total of 135 candidate filings had been processed through the Secretary of State’s Office. Filings continued to be submitted on Tuesday.
Statewide, state district, or Legislative candidates can file online, in person at the Secretary of State’s Office, or by mail or fax (the filing fee must be paid at the time of filing). Local candidates file with the county election office.
