HELENA, Mont. — Montana Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen engaged with students from western Montana schools during their Thursday visits to the Montana State Capitol. Student groups from Corvallis Middle School and Victor Middle and High School had the opportunity to meet Secretary Jacobsen as part of their tours of the State Capitol, where they learned about Montana’s legislative processes and the roles of the Secretary of State.
Secretary Jacobsen informed students of the Secretary of State’s role in elections and invited them to participate in the Youth Vote Program during the 2026 midterm election cycle. She also explained her role in assisting businesses across the state, including their initial registration in Montana.
She also answered questions, discussed the 2025 Legislative Session, and gave each student a copy of the United States and Montana Constitutions.
“It’s always inspiring to meet with young Montanans and discuss the significance of our government, as well as the important role they will play as voters or even elected officials,” said Secretary Jacobsen. “These students represent the future of our state, and it’s important for them to have a strong understanding of how their government works. Thank you to the schools, teachers, and chaperones for providing them with the incredible opportunity of visiting the Montana State Capitol.”
The student groups also participated in State Capitol tours hosted by the Montana Historical Society and watched legislators debate bills during Thursday’s portion of the 69th Montana Legislature.
